My Mistake – Poem (freestyle)

Sometimes when I look to the sky, I see clouds move away, birds fly by.

Feel so cold and lonely inside, my heart dies, it brings tears to my eyes.

My mistake, I was wrong. I called you weak and then you turned out strong.

Imagine that. The truth is now I’d take you back, at the drop of a hat.

The fact is, I never had much practice; sharing my time or sharing my mattress.

You were my first ever real girlfriend; was the first time I never had to pretend,

To be somebody else, somebody better. You gave me a boost and now I’m a go getter.

Now my money is stacking up so high, but it doesn’t mean sh*t because you aren’t close by.

I’m lonely, so sad. It’s time to admit that the thing we had,

It’s over. I know you’ve moved on, but if you’re ever about and you hear our song,

Just call me. We can take our time, that’s fine.

This mistake was mine.

Sometimes when I look to the sky, I see clouds move away, birds fly by.

Feel so cold and lonely inside, my heart dies, it brings tears to my eyes.

My mistake, I wanted a break. Can’t I take what I want to take when I want to take?

I just wanted time to breathe, time to myself to see whether I should leave.

I’m at home on my own getting pissed with a knife on my wrist because I can’t take this.

Sad but true, I’m not over you, I feel blue. Tell me, you, what to do?

I’m stuck in a rut and you’re a pain in the butt, the only girl I ever had who wasn’t a slut.

And I liked that, the fact you made me wait, the only one who made me want to concentrate.

We’d take our time, wine and dine, close the doors and pull the blinds.

I want to make love to you, and I know I got a lot of making up to do.

Just call me. We can take our time, that’s fine.

This mistake was mine.
